Why We Built This Site
New York uses separate custodians for related records. The Otsego County Sheriff's Office keeps its reports and county-jail material, while the clerk of the court of origin holds filed charges and dispositions. DCJS maintains the fingerprint-linked state repository, New York State DOCCS records state custody, and DCJS also operates the New York State Sex Offender Registry. We assembled the verified request steps, public search routes, fees, and contact details for those offices because no single Otsego County database combines every part of a criminal-history trail.
What You Will Find Here
- Agency routes: verified contacts for the Sheriff, Otsego County Court, local courts, and state record systems
- Record explanations: how arrest papers, court files, booking data, and DCJS rap sheets differ
- Official check steps: the distinct name-based OCA CHRS and fingerprint-based DCJS self-review processes
- Record sealing basics: where New York sealing requests begin and why the court of origin matters
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately operated reference site, not part of an Otsego County or New York government body. Its role has firm limits:
- We do not issue certified court papers, criminal records, or DCJS rap sheets
- We cannot submit a FOIL request, sealing motion, or other filing for a visitor
- We do not perform official checks or retrieve a person's government record
- We cannot interpret an individual charge or offer legal advice
- We cannot promise that an agency's hours, address, fee, or phone number has not changed
An official record must come from its custodian, such as the Otsego County Sheriff, the court clerk, or the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. This site only identifies the route.
Search Partners
Outside providers operate search boxes shown on some pages. They control their own services, result sets, terms, and prices. A paid enrollment reached through one of those tools may generate a referral fee for this site. That support helps cover operating costs, but it does not give us control over a partner's charges or data.
